I hope someone recognizes this little gem of a shrub. The plant is in a pot and under my lath patio, and is doing quite well. The leaves start out shades of light green/white or pinkish, then deepen to mauve and dark green. It produces cute pink/purple flowers, no fragrance. The stems are dark with lines throughout. It seems to be evergreen in our southern California climate. Ring any bells out there? Thank you for your help.

I can't see your leaves well to compare: https://www.google.com/search?q=Bar...UoAg#tbm=isch&q=pseuderanthemum+atropurpureum I couldn't find any info about a patent for "purple dazzler" or "purple dazzler variegated" for either genus name, but not sure if I'm good at that kind of search, probably not. Whatever its' name, I love it too!
It looks like the name you use might be determined by what country you live in. Many of the references I find have it as Barleria in Australia and Pseuderanthemum in the U.S. Sometimes when botanists decide to change a Genus name, there can be disagreement amongst themselves as to what is correct. I am guessing that there is a good chance that some day one name will be accepted world wide and the other name will become a synomyn for it. It is in our data base Barleria obtusa 'Purple Dazzler' (Bush Violet) It was suggested by our member Bernieh who is in Australia and after doing his own research on it Frank put in in the database as she suggested. Basically, it's the same plant.
