A baby horse. This is one of the sure signs of spring. Lots of flowers out now. Magnolia. Plums. Even strawberries are in flower. I take it all with a pinch of salt though. It may get cold again. Probably in April. I will keep the woodpile stacked up.
Odif, that colt is adorable! We have calves frolicking in the pasture next to ours. They range in age from a few days to a couple of weeks old. Here in Texas there is no "calving season." Heifers drop calves almost year round since it never gets so cold the calves are endangered. I'll have to ask a friend if horses do the same. Thank you for that cheering post!
How cute! Years ago my neighbor was breeding Standardbred horses. Spring was my favorite time, when the barn was full of babies. I miss those days ... They don't raise horses anymore, they grow medicinal marijuana.
Baby animals are such a welcome sight and the little foal is adorable. We have a farm near us that has a baby Alpaca (cria to give it its proper name) that is so cute. You just want to go over and cuddle it. However, its mum spits at you if you get too close which isn't very pleasant.
