I planted some spinach yesterday. I put it in long flower box pots though. Last year when I planted it in the ground the earwigs ate it. I did cover it with clear poly for the night though. Dooley

Now spinach is something I've never grown Dooley. Let's hope the earwigs don't get yours again this year.

Hi Dooley, a very simple organic cure for earwigs ( if you are sure thats what they are) is to get some straw or hay and stuff it into a 2 or 3 inch flowerpot . Then turn it upside down on a 2 foot stick , next morning the pots will be full of the earwigs ready for disposal 8) :D . You can also use old lobster shells, Bugs

I know it's earwigs. I took a flashlight out at night and they were all over. Last year I used a mixture of oil, soy sauce and molasses and that worked well. Although I used a lot of molassed. I'll try the flowerpot thing. I've been lifting the flower pots in the garden and there is always a lot of them there. Dooley

Hey Dooley, this guy might help you in your battle against earwigs on your spinach.

If you require a chemical solution, look for a spray containing the active ingredient bifenthrin.

I bought a large jar of molasses today. It worked pretty good last year after I discovered what it was that was eating it. Dooley
