Somewhere on the can should be Interior or Exterior. Interior would mean it will not hold up to outdoor use, heat, sun, water. If it says Exterior then it should be okay, but you might want to not let water stand on it. After spraying or rain, use a dry mop or towel to dry up any puddles that are left on it.

If there is any question you might use clear Spar (Marine) Varnish instead. That stuff is used on boats so you know it will take washing and rain just fine.

Well toni they told me to use this stuff so i bought it, But you are right, I made one for under my dining table, and one for the bedroom, they did say you could wipe them off if something was spilled on them, You are so smart, This stuff was 20,00 a qt. Is the spar that much to! If it work thats ok but if I can't wipe it off that's not good, I am putting 3 coats, That should do something , you think? Thank you toni.

Margie the marine varnish might run you a bit more a quart. I had read a few online articles about making floor cloths or oilcloths as they were known in England where they got there start. They used those one their floors before vinyl floor covering was invented.
Like Toni said you should use an exterior varnish. It can be either oil or latex. I personally think that an oil base varnish holds up better outdoors.
Here is a neat website to check out on floor cloths; canvasworksfloorcloths.com. You can even order canvas from them. Hope you post a few pic's. I have only done place mate floor cloths quite a few years ago. But because I didn't have a good workshop I quite doing them. But they were really a fun project. :stew1:
