This morning I was in the yard and a pair of wild Mallard ducks landed in one of the trees. They were on a wide limb up towards the top. I even went and got the binoculars to make sure they were ducks. Yep a male and female mallards. They stayed there about 5 minutes and then flew off! They were too far off to get a decent pic of them.

I'm going to show your post to Ian!! He didn't believe me when, a few years ago, I told him I'd seen a Mallard up a tree. Thanks for proving me right CK. :D

Strange indeed, an interesting observation Captain. I am only familiar with wood ducks roosting in trees. Most ducks sleep in water. Not confirmed, with one eye open! Half asleep? :)

Captain, those ducks saw your gorgeous place and just stopped to admire!
We had two Northern Whistlers perch on the roof of our workshop last year. I think they were tired from migrating and took the first rest-stop they came to.
