It is easy to tell whether it is sunset or sunrise photo if there is a caption or some kind of indication. If there is no clue at all, can you tell the difference.

The first photo is sunset. Because the sky is clear, which I assume is because the sun had been shining for the whole day (so the air was hot but clear).

Therefore, this hypotheses leads me to believe that the 2nd picture is sunrise (as the air seems cold and foggy, due to the night).

I am going to guess that the first is a sunset, Malacca is on the west coast of Malaysia and there appears to be an off shore island, Pulau Melaka? and a good sized body of water between the island the where the photo was taken from.

The other would be a sunrise since it looks like part of the Malacca River in the distance and that is the largest body of water that can be seen looking east.

Thanks Eileen! Feels good to have someone on my side. Anyway, I stated that because I have had some experience in the field of aviation. So the first thing that they teach you at pilot school, is how to read the weather.

Now if it turns out that I actually got it wrong, than I guess I really didn't learn anything - In which case Eileen, you're with stupid!!! :-D

Well, with only one of four possibilities remaining, it must be the correct one. sunset, sunset

    Jerry

P.S. I just know KK's gong to come up with an easy solution to this quiz and we're going to say Oh!! :)

Or... it will be a trick question with both of them being sunsets. But would KK do that? :stew1:

This has turned out to be a really interesting thread. :-D It's so hard to tell which picture is what. :-?
S-H I thought your explanation made a lot of sense and when I studied the photographs I found myself agreeing with everything you said - I guess I've joined you in the 'stupid' corner. :D :D
