Thanks so much for the warm welcome.
Here is a little about myself. I live in Pierre Part, La. about an hour's drive south of Baton Rouge.
Besides gardening (mostly veggies) I am into baking, especially anything with blueberries, camping, reading and almost anything that includes the outdoors. My veggies of choice to plant are tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, & eggplants. This year I will try growing potatoes in a black trash bag filled with straw. Last year I grew okras for the first time and was doing well with them until Hurricane Gustav came roaring along and destroyed my garden. I also realized I cannot grow okra anymore. Those darn roots were so deep I could not pull them up by myself. I had to wait and let the roots die out. Oh, well, lesson learned.
Again, thanks for the warm welcome.

Nice presentation, proudgranny. :D I'm so sorry Gustav made such a mess for you, and wish you an event-free gardening season this year.

Let's hope you don't have any more hurricane's this year to spoil your efforts in the garden PG. You must show us photographs of your progress with your veggies. :stew1:
Perhaps you could tell us all exactlyhow you go about using the black trash bags filled with straw to grow potatoes.
