Yesterday, I saw this guy hanging around the garden.

Then it moved on to my little "butterfly area".

While I was there, I noticed some of it's catepillars on the Passion Flower Vine.

And just as I finished taking this photo and was trying to get one of a butterfly again (not sure it's the same one because there were a couple)...
a lizard jumped out and started to eat it!!

I know it's just nature's way... but couldn't that lizard go find a bug or something else instead for lunch???

Oh my ... that is one amazing sequence of photos. I was admiring the butterfly, scrolling down to see the caterpillars, and actually gasped out loud. I know that lizards have to eat too, but why did he have to choose such a beautiful bug. :(

Well caught (and I don't mean the lizard) Cheryl. I never seem to be in the right place at the right time to get great shots like yours. :(

I've seen a lizard grab one before and it made me sad then. But to have this one do it right when I had the camera was kinda amazing.
Now.... the next time I see that lizard, I'm going to give it a good talking too about the benefits of eating "ugly" instead of "cute"!

I liked this series, Cheryl. It was a sort of "true life" portrayal.
In a way, it was a bit like watching Discovery Channel.

    Well done.

Nature takes it course but I sure don't like it sometimes. I hate it when the hawk eats a small bird in front of me...pulling it apart..I just walk away from the window.UGH!

Cheryl: makes one want to grab the lizard and say, no, no, bad lizard drop it, drop it right now. If it was a Monarch it would have left a bad taste in it's mouth. That reminds me of some other rather gross sightings I have had. But those were great photo's.

    Thanks Tooty....

Whenever I see butterflies around the Passion Vine... I tell them "Be careful! There's lizards in there!"
Maybe I should post a sign?
    ;)
