This was a weird thing. Yesterday I noticed that one of the canes/stalks/stems or whatever your call em on my Dracena Tri Color had drooped over. The plant is about 4 feet tall. There is still one stem left, but I went ahead and cut the droopy one off. It is about 10" long.
Any suggestions as to what I could do with it? I stuck it water not really knowing what else to do. I guess it doesn't break my heart if it won't live, but it would be fun to try to start it growing again if I only knew how! Do they root in water? Should I plant it in potting mix?

I believe it should root as I may have done that before, the details elude me. The circumstances of the event have me puzzled. The only thing I can figure is that the stalk was injured and the "drooped over" was the result. In any event, the 10" stalk should root and the old stalk should grow another leader or two or three. Watch for stalk rot for the one in the water. You are now on my reminder list to check on the one in water. 30 day ck.

Thank Jerry. The plant sits in a corner, and I don't think it was disturbed or injured. I have never seen anything like it, it just drooped down!
I will leave it in the vase and see what happens...
It would be cool if the original plant would sprout newbies from the base.
I am anxiously waiting... patiently... for the warm nights so I can move several houseplants outdoors to their summer home. They always seem to thrive and love it out there.
