The seagulls, Canada Geese and the ducks are back...we even have a muskrat that sits on the ice and dives in the water. We have another kind of duck with a black head with a white spot by the eye on the sides of the head with a white chest...this was our first time seeing it seeing we just moved in at the end of September. We had some work done at the house and the men said they saw a possum by the side of our house too...plus we had seen a fox... so many creatures and birds to check out at our new home...

Sounds like your new duck is a male goldeneye. Great to have so much around, you cannot beat water to attract wildlife.

I would find it hard to pull myself away from the window if there was so much wildlife around here. I'm already looking forward to more photographs from you as the year progresses.

We saw some ducks flying today. They fly over the swampy area not too far from out apartment complex. I saw some possums and a squirrel and a rabbit between us and the wooded area. We sometimes throw sunflower seeds out but don't want they to rely on us for food so we make it a treat. dooley

Thank you everyone and Kildale , I just found out this morning about the Goldeneye and someone mentioned we have blu bill around here too so I have to check them out. It makes me cold watching them dive under the water so much...we have some ice left on shore and today we got about 3-4 inches so far .

Merganser and the male common goldeneye. The little brown ducks are the females. The top one is the Hooded Merganser and the other Red breasted.
