It was windy and cloudy but warm so I went out and fed the birds and then dug up two circle flower beds and planted 24 petunias. Well, only 22 in the circle beds. Two didn't fit so I put them elsewhere. Petunias planted today ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) petunias planted today ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) I see some rabbits already found the larger bed. When the plants grow and spread out they should fill the beds. Then, I rested and had lunch. I cut scrubby brush and devil's whip for a bit. Then, went into the back yard and cleaned and refilled some pots for the herbs I bought yesterday and the basil that has been in the greenhouse. Basil, mint, and oregano ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) This is the basil in two pots, some peppermint that wintered over and some oregano. I also have lemon thyme and marjarom but they didn't get into the picture. I watered everything and cleaned and refilled the birds water tubs. Then, took a couple pictures of some more roses that are coming out. Lots more buds, too. Only one on this bush ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) Only one on this bush. A few more roses ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) These were closest to the house. I tied the long branch down so it doesn't blow too much now. It kept hitting someone in the head when they went to turn on the water. dooley
Dooley, how do you manage to get more done in a day that I do in a week? Your gardens will be lovely, despite the wind. I managed to clean the big coop, put the grass/poop on the corn for mulch, and mow the back yard. The yard grass clippings went into the big coop and the ladies are rearranging it to their liking.
Gee, Jane, sounds like a lot of work to me. I still have a lot left to do. I have to take a lot of rest breaks. It takes me three days to do a days work anymore. But, I have the time and as long as the weather is warm I can work in the wind. It only blew me over the fence and across the road one time. dooley
Great foto's, Dooley. You guys have done a great job with the yard. The porch looks especially nice. Your herb garden is looking ready for business. You have gotten off to a great start!
You both are incredibly active in the yard. Thinks are definitely looking like the promises of spring and summer. I really like those circles
Wow... I'm ashamed to mention that in two days I didn't get nearly that much done! Glad you're taking breaks. There's no need to over-do it and hurt or tire yourself out so you can't return to play the next day. (Note to self: keep that in mind.)
Gosh, and Im exhausted after turning over the soil in the rose bed and half of the bed by the front door! Took me 2 days to do that much haha. Nice roses, ours havent even thought about setting buds yet o.o
Hi Dooley,..great work completed and lovely red roses,..lol i wonder just who kept hitting their head when turning on the water. Philip
