Okay, so whenever we think of tower gardening, we automatically think of hydroponics. At which point I'm sure the majority would say that it's too much trouble, and a bit costly also to begin with. So they wouldn't have the time to invest in such an activity, (obviously because hydroponics demand a lot of attention and care). And as we all know, time in our most costly commodity... However, what if I told you - That there is a way of tower gardening, which will give you all the space saving advantages of hydroponics. But also wouldn't break the bank, nor would there be any tedious chores of constantly monitoring nutrient levels or calibrating artificial grow lights with other headaches. I was just searching online, mostly on YouTube. About how the Native Americans use to have floating grow beds over rivers, (primitive yet very effective way of hydroponics). And how the Ancient Hanging Gardens of Babylon must have been constructed. So inspired by such ideas, as I know that the ancients didn't have any modern technologies like we do - Yet they still somehow very cleverly did it! Therefore I suspected that we might be missing something. As my gut made me realize there had to be another way!!! Something that we (blinded by modernism) accidentally might have overlooked... And so I searched and searched and searched - Until I finally found a YouTube channel of a lady, why too had the same idea as me! You all might have to turn on CC so you can view the translated English subtitles. But anyhow, the information I was looking for - To have the same space saving advantages of hydroponics. Yet not be ridden with tedious chores - I found in these videos below!
I've always been interested in Tower gardening, I don't have a lot of space, more than most, but my .02 acres could do with something like towers, however it's not just the money that made me hesitant, but that i was intimidated (yep I am intimidated by a lot of things,) I will have to have a look at your videos when I get the chance. I do love the idea, just without the actual help I tend to hide from things
Well the method shown in the videos above is very cheap and practical. But above all else it's more or less maintenance free. So aside from watering it, there isn't much else to do. Which is totally unlike hydroponics where you need to constantly be keeping an eye on your fluid nutrient levels. As well as be tweaking artificial grow light exposures. Because in that the need for a controlled environment is essential. Whereas this is just clever ingenuity that's extremely practical and highly forgiving. Which you can expose to outside elements without much worry. Only improvement I'll make to this is have some dwarf sunflowers growing at the top of the tower - As that will be highly visible, and so would attract honeybees that will pollinate everything for free. So this is a win win situation on just about every front. Because if there is a down side to this, I still can't see it.
