This little one grew on its own on a patch in my backyard. For a minute I thought its a coleus but here in PNW I have never known Coleus to survive the winter outside. Plus I have never grown Coleus.
Anybody know what this could be?

This is what I was thinking, but wasn't positive. But still a weed none the less.

Tina would you please upload your photo to the plant page...
Polygonum persicaria It's the Synonym for the plant you have and the one we have in the database.

    Thanks

As a general rule, be wary of putting any plants with chevrons on their leaves in a garden bed, or not ID'ing (and likely pulling) ASAP.

I'm not sure your plant isn't Tovara.
