Well the help I need is which ones are truly year round plants? I have become so confused from reading more and more about them that I am at my witts end. All I want is a nice full sundew that I can grow under a small plant light year round and maybe eat some of my fungus gnats. I don't have a lot but it would be cool to have a natural control on them. Not to mention seeing the plant eat them.

The subtropical variety is a year round plant.
The temperate one goes dormant in winter. And there are some varieties that die back in summer then grow thru the winter.

Have you checked out the Carnivorous Plant Society site, they should have really good info to help you decide which one would be best.
