It was dry here today; that is to say, it wasn’t raining or snowing. There was still plenty of slushy snow everywhere and the soil was soppy. In spite of this dubious climatic situation, there was reason enough to permit a little journey out to the lottie. The main thing was to remove the plastic and fleece from the strawbs. I wanted to wait for a day with little wind and some sun to gently dry the pampered plants.

On our way from the front gate to the garden house we came by these guys again...standing proudly near their namesakes. No worse for the wear after a week of severely freezing temps.

Well then, we removed the plastic, fleece and weights and hung the the coverings up to wind dry.

Those two beds look a bit rough, don’t they. Well, their time will come.

The main job done, we had some times on our hands, so what to do then? Oh, I know begin cutting back the ornamental grasses.

...and what to do with all that dead grass then? Replenish the main garden path, what else.

The planks are there temporarily to hold down the light and airy grass blades until they settle. You can see one sheet of plastic strawb covering draped across an apple tree to dry there at the end of the path.

Well, I topped off the bird food and we sat and watched their thankful visits, but eventually we started getting cold and decided to go home, after all it was becoming time for tea. Right then, we gathered up all the strawb coverings and bunged them into the greenhouse to dry. I had to take a pic of the outrageous result...sort of like a reverse Christo effort.

Sjoerd, Snowdrops, right? Those are the first flowers to pop up here.
The ornamental grasses, do the seeds take root? Will the grasses grow in your pathway?
How wonderful to have a day out in the lottie. We had too much snowfall
last night. I only went out to sweep it off the front porch.

GP— yes those are snow drops.
The ornamental grasses that I have are not seeding out. Their stands enlarge in size via their rootball. Grass will grow in my pathway alright, but that sort of grass is lawn grass.
It was an exhilarating day in the lottie. I can feel that spring is on the way. The bees may fly this coming friday.
