The african violet that I bought in late summer is blooming - I am pleasantly surprised. I am not real good with houseplants. Picture quality isn't real good either.

Polly I also love African Violets! I purchased one in late summer also, unfortunately mine didn't fare as well as yours! I placed it out on the porch for a little fresh air, let me say not a good idea!! Yours is lovely thanks for posting and congrats on getting it to rebloom!! Is that a Hoya limb behind it?

Yes that is a hoya behind it. They seem to do well in this bathroom window. It faces the west. There are a couple other plants in the same window that do well. Actually houseplants are my husbands - I kill them but he has good luck with them.

I love AV's~mine are in my east kitchen window and they remain there year round.
I put them in a backing dish of water about 2 times a month with AV food and my bloom pretty regularly.

I haven't ever had any luck doing cutting.......anyone know about doing this???

I just bought another violet - a white one- for my desk at work. So far it is still alive and I have had it for about three weeks. mgf I haven't tried cuttings. As I said before my experience with houseplants is not always good.
