First bloom of the year for my water lilies. I spot 3 more bulbs. Hope they all bloom at the same time.
But in the meantime... here's the Lemon Mist.

A lovely lily to grace any pond. Yes, it would be a good show to have several blooming at the same time.

Oh my goodness, that is stunning....
What are your lillies growing in, Cheryl? Is it a pond? That's so pretty, makes me feel like I want one too!

Daisy... it's a plastic barrel (with the top cut off).
Here it is when I first set up it last year.
Working good for now... but I want BIGGER! :-D

And why shouldn't you have one? Very easy to maintain... and every garden should have some sort of water feature. Right? (Have I convinced you yet?
    :D )

Hmmm, I could do that. Do you have to empty the water from time to time, or just flush it out with some clear....?

And... what do you have to do with those in the winter... our winter here is a lot colder than yours.

But that flower is so pretty, I'm game to try it out. Where to put it? Is it in hot sun or shade or mixed?

Very pretty flower. I have a LITTLE pond WAAAAAY in the back, but I'm afraid I would never get there to see anything blooming in it(i never go back there except to mow). So for now you post your pictures and I will still get to see the flowers. Thanks

    Daisy...
I had to take it all down when we moved in November. Then I emptied it out after the last freeze and gave it a good cleaning. Throughout the rest of the year I'll just flush it out occasionally.
I left it out all winter. One time the ice was at least 2" thick. You can see that it didn't harm them.
And they like sun! I actually planned my fence/section of the yard so that my little water corner was in the sunniest spot.
Maybe there are water lilies for your climate?

That's a lovely, little gem. :D I want one, plus a red one, and maybe a white one, as long as they're minis. :D With the winter we just had your pond would be frozen through I'm afraid. I guess I could always use an aquarium heater in it... Hmmm.

Hmm. If you had ice in the tub 2 inches thick, it can't have been much warmer than here. I'm zone 7a/b. I'm going to look around the nurseries -- I know I've seen some similar water plants. You're right, probably some varieties that do OK through the winter here.

Wow Philip... that has to be the highest praise that any plant that has chosen to grow for me has ever received.

Droopy... I have another one in there called "Reflective Flame" that hasn't bloomed yet. I'm hoping it will decide to bloom this year. Plus in the other little "pond stand" there's one I got from a local nursery that was just labeled "red". I don't know if that was in reference to it's leaves having red splotches or it's flower. Hopefully I'll find out soon, because I just noticed a couple of buds in there! (fingers crossed)

Daisy... I guess I should have also mentioned that the 2 inches of ice melted within a couple of days.
So, I say... go for it! Check around and see if there's some that's hardy enough for your climate.
Or perhaps there's a way you could protect it during the harsh wintertime?

And just as a side note: today was the 2nd day of the Lemon Mist "showing off". It starts to close up around 6pm. I sat and watched it for an hour or so as it tucked itself in for the night. I don't know what time it opens up since I'm either on my way to work or sleeping! :-D
