Last fall I started some Rose of Sharon and various Hibiscus varieties from seed and planted them in the yard. This is one I planted in front but according to what I'm told it's neither a Hibiscus or ROS so what is it? It appears to have two buds on it. The leaves are very waxy feeling and are heart shaped.

I looked at that and I'm not sure. Here are a few more photos showing the stems and what I 'think' are two buds but could be just new leaves coming out. dsc06428.jpg dsc06430.jpg dsc06431.jpg dsc06432.jpg

The seeds you planted....were they store bought or given to you? If they were store bought you could send a photo of the plant to the company and see if they know what they sent you by mistake. If they were given to you then possibly the person giving them to you got them confused with others or accidentally mis-labeled them, maybe they could help you out.

Hi Toni, actually I got them from a member on another plant site. There were about 10 different varieties of Hibiscus and I already had three different types of ROS. I contacted him just the other day about this one and he said he has no idea what it is but it wasn't in the packets of seeds he sent me he said. About the only choice I have now is to see if those are in fact buds and if so wait until it blooms and post again.

Yep, now it's a waiting game but in the plant world that is most often a fun game. Keep us posted on it's progress.
