Virtual memory is a section of your hard disc which the computer sets aside to use as an extra pice of memory for itself. You machine has a certain amount of memory built in (Ram). Sometimes this is not enough so the computer 'steals' a bit from your hard disc. You may sometimes get a message saying that the amount of virtual memory is not enough. You may then increase this manually.

The more RAM you have the faster your PC will be,in opening additional windows, programs etc.
