I am trying to figure out when to plant my amaranth. Can it even be started ahead inside?

Which Amaranth are you planting? There are somewhere around 60 species, some are veggies, some grains and some decorative.

The flowers can be either started indoors 6-8 weeks before the average date of your last frost or outside after that date.

Grain Amaranth is planted outside in May/June...as long as it has enough growing days to be harvested before the first frost.

I am growing Love Lies Bleeding as a grain. Seed Savers Exchange said it was referred to as "Inca Wheat." I figured it would serve dual purposes . . .
