This used to be a post of a neighbors arbor. It rotted out on the bottom so they took it down and was going to haul it away. We took it, trimmed the rotted part off, sealed it and re-purposed it as a lawn ornament. We call it the squirrel tree now.

Thank you for the compliments and the patches! I wanted something tall to put there to kind of take away from that huge white shop wall. Not a trellis as I already have 2 of those plus an arbor. This was the perfect solution. Frank, there's a few squirrels in the area but a neighbors 7 cats kind of keep them away.
The neighbors that gave it to us liked what we did but I don't think that kind of decoration is their thing.

I would have snagged that piece of wood too. It's beautiful.
Even more beautiful the way you have it now. Great job!

Yes I agree that it was a super find. I like you squirrel tree. Very neat. I think I would have probably put a bunch of sphagnum moss on top to look like hair. Then put a clay pot on top of the moss to look like a hat. Then I would have put two google eyes under that and painted a funny face on it. To look like a crooked little person or an animal of some sort. Just my strange sense of humor coming through. :D

I have been thinking about your post T2T and the only thing I see it as is the 'Hunchback of Notre Dom' in the cartoon movie. If I had put in the front yard I would decorate it that way at Halloween. I'm going to keep my eyes open for a smaller log and do that. Thanks for making me think about it.
