you see a Great Blue Herron standing in a roadside ditch that is normally dry! It started raining some time last night. But we haven't had hard rain, just light showers. I bet we haven't had much more that a 1/2 inch of rain since it started. He must have found something really good to eat. He didn't even fly off when we drove by. But he was gone when we came home.
Now I know where our herons went--they're all standing in Ohio ditches waving to Captain as he drives by! We had 3/4" of rain on Friday night--most welcome on top of the 1" we had before Thanksgiving. If this keeps up we may get our herons back at our pond.
Somehow, it has rained all around me but not ON me. I just hope all my trees are wet enough to get them through the winter!
