Dead palm?

So I planted so new plants out front about a week ago and some palms out front about 6 months ago. The thing is we had a freeze here in Orlando Florida witch hasn't happened since 2002. So I covered only the little plants that I just planted. But when I woke up this morning the only thing that is completely brown and looks dead is my palm in the back yard that I planted 4 years ago and is about 11' tall. Weird!
