We found this growing under the back deck and than moved it so it could get more light and it came back this year. it has a thorny stem.Anyone know what it is? I would like to know. thanks

That looks like a poppy, it might be a Papaver somniferum-cross.

thanks, I think that's it, because of the thorns I was looking for roses. lol, I would have been looking for roses forever, thanks again

I was originally going to say Rose of Sharon, but looking at the plant beside it with the seed pod on top of it, I'm going to definitely say Poppy as well. Watch and see if the foliage dies all the way to the ground early (mark the spot) if you want to remember where it is so you don't accidentally dig it up.

I agree, definately a poppy.
My pink poppies are almost finished blooming and now there are very pretty blue seed pods.
