Well had a good season for my first year.

Lots of success with toms and beans, cucumbers.

no success with the other veg. mainly due to poor soil.

I have pulled everything out of the garden and weeded it.

Is there anything else I should do before winter comes?

Is their anything I can do now that will help the soil quality next season? I was thinking of putting some good manure on the plot?

    thanks for the help

You can have your soil tested, contact a local garden center to find a lab in your vacinity that does the testing. It will tell you what your soil is lacking or has too much of, then you can start adding the amendments it needs to be healthy for next season.

Thats what My gran always said.

Typically whilst she was stopping the car to gather some ripe horse dung off the road :)

Haha, did your gran do that? Cool! When we no longer have horses I think I'll do just what your gran did.

was a few years back now, but their was a stable just off a main road near her house and the horses would go down the main road to and from the field.

Everytime we would go down the road if she spotted a fresh pile she would get the spade and bag out the boot and shove it up.

That said she had one of the best veg gardens i have seen :)
