I noticed these little things on my Key Lime pie a couple weeks ago. I did an insecticide soap and they came right back. Now all of my succulents are getting them and very quickly. Can anyone please tell me what they are how to kill them before they destroy my succulents. I don't care at this point if it is eco friendly or not, 2 treatments with soap has only lead to tons more and I want them gone so a systemic, if it would work, is fine with me. Not gonna eat them anytime soon anyway.
Don't know what they are, but I have also had them on my cactus (they seem to be some sort of mites). If untreated, they sure will destroy the whole plant. Anyway, the ones I had were not fast moving insects (although they too were colored while). In fact they mostly attached themselves to the plant, and for a while I was fooled into thinking that they are a part of the cactus's skin. However, now if I see them - I simply scrub the whole plant down with a wet tooth brush (periodically dipping it in a cup of water, and then scrub it over and over again again until they are all dislodged and washed off)... My guess is that all types of cactus are actually plants that prefer a arid climate. So I assume will the pests that attack them. Therefore, I thought of scrubbing the whole plant down with water. And so far, it seems to work. I think by doing that, I destroy their eggs which I think they attach onto the plant's surface. So by scrubbing with a wet tooth brush, I dislodge them - Thus upsetting their reproductive cycle!
Scrubbing the KeyLime would be fine but it has spread to some much more delicate succulents. Best I can find so far is possible scales but online resources are proving taxing at best. I am seriously considering getting a systemic so I get rid of all problems all at once.
Well I hope you get good results, and soon. As these cactus are very beautiful plants. Therefore I totally understand your urgency when you say that wish to get rid of all problems at once.
