I got a Japanese Maple a few weeks back and I followed all the recommended tips on how to plant, I was just wondering how to make sure it does well. Some of the leaves are starting to die. Should I buy some fertilizer or do you think the soil (for planting small trees & shrubs) should be enough, I can't remember what I used I think it was called sta-green. Please any advice would be great!

Do NOT-repeat Do NOT fertilize Japanese maples at this time of year. In spring you use a very diluted liquid fertilizer. I use fish pond water on mine. Over- fertilization will result in burned leaf tips and can even kill your tree. Be sure and water thoroughly (not Often) even in the fall and winter unless the ground is frozen hard. Cool

Hello Gina Very Happy

Bethie has given you some really good advice which is exactly right. Don't worry too much about the leaves that are dying at the moment. When any plant is re-located or re-potted it suffers from shock - this will pass. Your tree should start to pick up in the next couple of weeks.
