Hi saw this moth at my parents house in DuPage county (Winfield to be exact). It was about 1.5 inches long and has the coolest moth pattern I have ever seen. Just wondering if its rare because my father and myself have never seen anything like it in 35+ years living in the area.

Hi there Larva!! I can ID your moth for you. Very Happy It's a Giant Leopard Moth, Ecpantheria scribonia. Great photograph by the way!!

That is one neat moth. The pattern is wonderful. It took God a long time to paint that one I bet.

A wonderfull moth photo and I love his leopard pattern God had to take his time as the color is just perfect.
