A while back someone ask for ideas of what you can do/make with old windows. I can't find the post, but I found a website with lots of suggestions... www.robomargo.com Check it out Stew Face 2

Hubby and I saw this stuff and immediately went and got some old windows. We are in the middle of making one of the small decorative greenhouses. I am loving it and hope to get it done this weekend then I'll post it. It's been SOO cold here to work outside. She has a lot of good ideas there. Idea

Now that is creative and I wish I could have glass around(small and active kids about)but just using the frames would be a show stopper.

i have a few mini green houses made from old windows,, here in the artic its a must have,, for tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers,, that kind of stuff..

but i have been wanting to make a large greenhouse out of them. I have 20 huge windows that my husband got from our neighbor when they replaced all their windows,, now they sit in the bottom of the barn. not sure if i want more mini ones or one large one,,, kind of like the mini's because i can dismantal them for the winters here. I do see on this site there is a larger greenhouse made from the windows,, but don't know how well that would hold up to the weather here.

the other ideas,, are great,, since i live in an old farm house,,,, hmmmmmm,,, i might need another 20 windows.

Great site! All the windows in my studio are recycled old windows (part of why I can't paint out there when it's so cold, pout) I think you can see them in my blog.

Bethie, hurry up! I know what ever you make will be gorgeous and outstanding. Can't wait to see your creations Wink

Where did you find your windows so quickly? I find them hard to come by. I would give anything to live in the country in an old farm house,as some of you do. Does anyone want to adopt me?

We've used old windows as the top for cold frames as well.
I know of other people who have done the same.
One person uses an old cow trough covered with windows to make her cold frame.
They are a great treasure to find in the trash.

hahahahahha

you're not being dumb, as if you're from the south most likely you've never seen one.
A cold frame is used to hardy off your young plants before putting them in the garden in the spring.
It's basically a box with a clear top to it.
The top is hinged so it can be opened to let out the hot air and not kill the plants on warmer days.
Then it is closed for the night or on chilly days to keep the plants warm, but they still get sunlight.
Hope that helps explain it.
I'll try to find you a picture

As soon as I saw the little greenhouses I showed them to my husband. He said the man right down the road had gotten all new windows on his house and the old ones were stacked outside with a 4sale sign. When hubby enquired about them the man graciously gave them to him. Very Happy
