Sorry all,

But that doesnt mean Ive stopped gardening.

There are dozens and dozens more seedlings, but Ill stop for today, I might show the roses next.

Last seedling post for year...

Category: DAYLILY HYBRIDIZING | Posted: Sun Aug 08, 2010 10:52 am

Time has caught up to the daylily season and is putting to bed. Usually or typically it lasts to mid august. But everything bloomed early this year , so everything is wrapping up early as well...

My best rose pink for the year...

A mid late...

This one flared its edge on its last few blooms, always looked nice though no matter what stage it was in.

This one is huge around 8 inches a bloom, plus it had a 45" scape so it was very tall.. the eye was nice, but I didnt like the base color at all. So it only stays to breed hieght if I so choose to do that.

Well thats it for the year! Can you believe it! Had around 300 daylily seedlings bloom this year.. maybe 20 will be kept in the end.

Rose Colored Seedling, EMO as well, plus some rose shots

Category: DAYLILY HYBRIDIZING | Posted: Wed Jun 30, 2010 12:01 pm

EMO = Early Morning Opening, this was was fully open by 6 am, I like EMO's as they open before you go to work.. this is a 5.5 inch lightly scluplted, with a green throat and a consistent yellow edge, if not exactly a substanial one.

Some early shots of Surpasse Toute, brighter, bolder than I woudlve ever thought..

Group shot of Heritage rose

Seedling revisited

Category: DAYLILY HYBRIDIZING | Posted: Sat Sep 05, 2009 11:58 am

Not much new going on in my garden... Next year is going to be so much better! Well hopefully anyways.

Its a lovely labor day weekend forcast, Im not really planning on doing much. I extened my main garden bed around its curve another 30 feet X 10 feet deep wide bed. Ive purchased 5-6 crosses for next year so far and have my rose order into pickering already... Next up is value seeds, WHENEVER they get around to updating and maybe a pine tree seeds order. I would love some more daffs in the garden as well. If you wait until just before the snow flys you can get them even cheaper at the local places =).

Anyways wanted to revisit this one cross, NONE of the flowers were bad, they were all very will defined with great color and habit. As you can see from the last picture, it fades to a truly gentle lavender/purple/mauve mix. Its truly fantastic and will be saved for the next 2-3 years to see what it does. I cant wait untill next year however. I have soooo many crosses set to bloom next year, with parents out of blue hippo , priceless, sense of wonder, eight miles high, gary colby, blue lake, god save the queen , highway blues, dragonfly charmer I can go on and on, I had over 500 seedlings last year! I think this year it will be around 250, with my schedule, taken care of this many seedlings at one time is alot! But I see all the new culitivators and the old ones, I get sooo exited and ending up bidding on them on the lily auction anyways!

Well forget all the rambling! here are some of the pics!

Have a great Labor Day Weekend everyone! We are having classic american fare, fresh raised corn, hamburgers , hot dogs and watermelon, topped off with ice cream =).
