garden update

Category: Garden @ ECO | Posted: Wed Mar 07, 2007 6:09 pm

i put 40# lime down, and 15 # all purpose organic fertilizer down yesterday and had the garden tilled in one more time. This weekend, (weather permitting) i will be direct seeding two varieties of carrots Thumbelina and Nantes. two varieties of beets, golden and Chiogga. for an experiment i will seed some salsify ( also known as oyster plant). and sugar snap peas. in a friends greenhouse i have cauliflower, 4 varieties of lettuces, which will include a galactic( red Lolla Rosa) butter head, green and red leaf varieties. i may if i have room try to plant some fennel. i also have two types of radicchio i am trying out this year for fun, they are the tall trevisio and the small round chiogga varieties.
Happy growing

Wow, you have been busy. Good luck with your crops. Except for the beets (personal dislike of mine) it sounds like some good eating coming your way in a few weeks.

Hey I wish I had a friend who would let me use their greenhouse - you are sooo lucky!!! You certainly have a good variety of veggies on the go and I hope they all grow strong and healthy for you. You must post some pictures when it comes time to harvest them.

You have been busy and the rewards will taste so good. I love beets.
