Proud Grandma alert!

Category: Garden Novice | Posted: Fri Apr 10, 2009 3:49 am

My granddaughter was at the World Irish Dancing championships in Philadelphia this week. This is the biggest international event in Irish dancing and the first time it was held in the United States. Well, my granddaughter competed in the girl's figure dancing for her age group 11-13. And they won first place! Out of all the groups from all over the world, they won! Here's a photo taken right before they went out on stage. My granddaughter, Alara, is on the bottom row, second from left.

Congratulations to Alara and the entire dance troup.

Alana and her dancing team must be so proud of themselves. What a fantastic result. I love their costumes and their hairstyles. That's a photograph that MUST go up on a wall.

Congratulations Eileen. I can imagine that you are VERRRRY proud. :-)
Their accomplishment was remarkable. Those costumes are nice, are they of a traditional design or a pattern that the costume makers conceived themselves?
Well done you guys.

The dress she's wearing is the school dress and it's traditional. She has a solo dress that's very elaborate and flashy. As for the patterns of the dresses, a lot of the seamstresses who make the dresses use their own designs and there's also copyrighted designs they can buy.
