Teaching this (old?) girl new tricks!

Category: my Winter thoughts | Posted: Thu Jan 28, 2010 3:51 am

Hello Stewbies! I thought I would relate my tales of mastering (sort of) the computer. Well, maybe not mastering, but I am learning how to do things that I never thought I needed to! Us older people were not raised with this computer technology, it does not come natural! I know you can take classes and all, but I don't want to! I stubbornly want to figure it out on my own! (or with a bit of help now and then, Thank you Frank and Toni!)
Anyway, I have been having fun uploading photos from my digital camera onto my garden page to share with you all. Not without a few mistakes and re-doing!! So, I hope you will take a look at my photos.
I have so many photo albums (the real tangible kind!)that are full of all my gardening efforts through the years! I wish it was possible for you to see all of those! I'm sure all of us older folks do! Anyway, my real expertise lies in working with tools such as my Felco pruners, hedgers, clippers, trowels, rakes, and well, you know... I'm a gardener!

something different in the sky!

Category: my Winter thoughts | Posted: Sun Jan 24, 2010 5:19 pm

I promised Bob that I would not sit at the computer for hours... but I just had to comment on our sky! It is a different color today (BLUE) and there is a bright object up there (THE SUN) and something is gone that we have gotten way too used to (CLOUDS)
The wind is pretty chilly, in fact it is only in the low 30s, but I can not tell you just how wonderful it is! I guess it might not last long, maybe even not all of today, but for now we'll take it.
Hurry up spring!

out from under the snow!

Category: my Winter thoughts | Posted: Sat Jan 23, 2010 6:36 pm

The snow is gradually disappearing! I guess it is slowly soaking in, because we haven't seen the sun for more than a week, although the temps are milder (low 30s) Yesterday the wind came up out of the southeast, and we had a bit of rain. So much better than snow! This morning we looked out and there were my little shrubs peeking out from their snow and ice prisons. I am thrilled to see them again! Also visible again are the rock borders and the concrete bench that had been completely buried.
It is still cloudy, but so much better. There are still big piles of snow where we scooped it away from the drive.
I am getting addicted to Garden Stew, it is like "virtual gardening" !
I'm also really having fun navigating around the site and getting to know you all.
