We had a pair of turkey vultures come in to our big ashe juniper in the back yard. Birds are seeking shade anywhere they can.
Most folks don't like vultures. They are not pretty birds, their call is not pleasant, but without them we'd be knee deep in carrion. We like vultures, but just don't want to cuddle them!

I think they are NEAT! I always see them circling in the sky looking for food, a few times I've seen them by the side of the road with roadkill.
One year we had a nest of them at work, and I managed to get a photo of a young one ... equally as ugly as the parents! I'll see if I can find the photo I took

Oh I hope you can Netty. I think they are exactly as they should be. It's a messy business sticking you head into dead animals. Can you imagine what it would be like if those corpses were just left to rot and the diseases that would be spread into the bargain? :smt078

We don't have vultures here but we do have buzzards that do a god job of getting rid of vermin and they feed on dead animals.
