Can Cannas be started indoors in a pot?

Hello everyone , Do you all think it's ok to start cannas inside in containers this time of year? Or is it ok to just start them in the house and not outside. I just got some and wanted to get a head start,

Yes Margie, thanks for reminding me! I usually pot some of mine up this time of year. I just leave them in a sunny window.

 

I grew them in pots when we lived in Arizona. But it was a big pot and I had three or four in the same pot. You could start them in a pot and them move them when it's warm enough outside.

If you are starting from seed, be sure and nick the seed coating to get it to come up quickly

 

That is good to know that I can plant them inside first...it seems last summer they took so long to bloom...it must of been the weather . Hopefully the tubers are fine, one winter I lost all of them . When I opened the box they were all dried up and some were soft.
