I know that you put coffee grounds on your compost but has anyone used cold coffee to water plants. A lady here told me to use cold coffee to water plants that have sort of stagnated. Not growing but not really dying. DR has a coffee press and he empties the grounds. I was wondering if I could fill the pot with cold water and use it as a tonic for the potted plants. I used to pour leftover cold coffee or tea in the plant at work beside my desk. It didn't seem to hurt it at all and it always seem to grow. I think we finallyhad to give it away - got too big for the spot.

Go ahead Dooley and pour your coffee on your plants as they seem to love it and cold tea. :-D Just as long as it doesn't have milk or sugar in it that is. ;)

You mean some people actually HAVE leftover coffee and not only that but they waste it on plants????? As a long time and pretty heavy coffee drinker I find this incredulous.
    :-D :-D :-D

I said DR has grounds left in the bottom of his coffee press pot. I DON'T drink coffee, only tea. It's the grounds left in the bottom of the pot that I want to add water too and feed the plants. I think I am the only one in the family, mine and my sisters and brothers who doesn't drink coffee. No, my next younger sister doesn't drink coffee. She drinks Pepsi. Dooley

Use 1 tea bag and make water for your African violets.
The old rule is a cup for you ,a cup for me and a cup for thee.
    I didn't make that up.
Use the 3rd cup as a water for your African violets. It will be the correct strength.

    always worked on mine

Coffee and I don't get along. But I do drink tea throughout the day. Lots of years ago, I had an Ivy at work that super-thrived on whatever was left in my cup/glass. But then again... I tried giving my remaining tea to some plants recently at work and they didn't like it all.
I do, however, make sure to toss by tea bags into the compost pile.

As long as you don't mind your plants stealing your cigarettes and staying up all night talking...

    Sure feed 'em coffee.

No, it won't hurt plants. :)
