Cucamelons

    There were some people asking about the cucamelon I grow in my garden.

    They are also known as Mexican Sour Gherkin, mouse melon, and miniature watermelon.
    They are a frost tender, fast growing vine that is a member of the melon/gourd family.
    The fruit looks just like a tiny watermelon and they taste like a mild cucumber with lime.

    They are prolific and are a huge hit with my grandsons straight off the vine!

    Thank you for sharing this post Netty. :) I'm still eager to try these - I'm hoping next year as I won't need to grow peppers next year. They are cute little things aren't they.

    Did you grow ground cherries this year Netty?

    Yes, sort of.
    I didn't actually sow any seeds, but I ended up with several volunteers!
    They are kind of an acquired taste
