I've mentioned, in a previous post, the orchids that I rescued and that I've been babying along for years, and that have finally begun to bloom after 4+ years, and the change of environment (I guess) of moving to this house.

I am still stunned, almost unbelieving, that my persistence paid off, because the one orchid that almost didn't make it when I first rescued it, has now rewarded me with such stunning, breathtaking blooms. I am NOT an experienced gardener of outside plants OR houseplants. How did I make this happen??

Here it is, in full bloom after all the buds have finally opened!

It was your tender loving care. I don't know if I'd baby something for 4 years. It is gorgeous!

WOW what a beauty and well worth waiting four years for. You care and dedication to its welfare has certainly paid off. :D

Well, Netty, for the longest time I thought they hated me, too. Like I said, that sucker has been sitting naked for 4+ years! It put out one new leaf a couple of years ago, and that was it. I didn't even know a plant could DO that, just not die, but not grow either.

It certainly is gratifying. I guess persistence can pay off sometimes!
