I have several bell pepper plants that have fruit already on them, but are getting brown before they mature. These are actually sweet red bell peppers and at first I just thought they were beginning to turn red, but it looks more like the color of bread crust. One pepper has one whole side that looks that way and others have spots toward the bottom of them. Anyone know what this could be? The plants themselves look healthy. Please respond with any ideas.
    Thanks,
    Steph

Are the brown spots dried out looking?
or soft and pulpy, like rot?
Some of the possibilities range from fungal to viral to bacterial.

Or, maybe you are having one of these problems ~

This is the link for a topic from another of our members, Mountain Juggalo, who had a problem with his peppers back in early June and it could be what you have seeing on your peppers too.
There are a couple links in that topic you might check out too.

    Brown spots on peppers.

I took pictures of one of the "turning brown peppers". I hope that helps someone to recognize the problem. Now if I can only figure out the posting of images I'll be in good shape!

This sounds and looks like blossom end rot. I have it also right now. I feel that my problem has been not watering enough. Tomorrow I mulch the peppers and begin to water regulalry. I know this is a calcium deficiency issue when the plant can not absorb the calcium because of either under or over watering. I have been cheap with turning on my drip irrigation. I figured it had rained enough because the plants have not been droopy and are growing fine. I also sent my soil in for testing this spring and know I have a good ph level and had no need for lime, so it must be drought related. Here are a couple of good links.
