A pair of Tuffed Ducks (Aythya fuligula) cruised by the beehives a couple of days ago. It is extremely rare to see these so close to civilization here. I guess that they thought because it was so close to night-time that they could come by undetected.
Maybe they're looking for a place to nest. Wouldn't it be great if they hatched eggs and brought their youngsters passed your lottie?
They probably had heard about the great view and came to sight-see at the allotment! Those are lovely ducks. I hope Eileen's prediction comes true and you have a nesting pair.
Wow, EILEEN--that would indeed be mahvelous. I doubt it though because they are extremely shy and do not like being around human civilization. We'll see though. My fingers are crossed. It's a pity that it was twilight and you can't see their eyes, because they have the most lovely golden-yellow eyes. JANE--hahaha...yes, imagine that! Duck tourists taking a canal tour of my city. I may be onto something here. Perhaps I should set up a concession and perhaps offer bread or cracked corn refreshments. Install a pavilion...a self-serving refreshment pavilion...with smoking and non-smoking sections. Yeah, I could become a millionaire...off the back of the duck tourist trade.
