Nice one,..we both got rain,..our weather is improving for April and May compared to the past,..come to think December and January were good as well,..alerts though for America's East Coast,..strong winds and Rain.

The Ophiopogon planiscapus nigerescens 'Black Mondo Grass' doesn't get mentioned a lot but its nice enough in a blue bowl or against a green background.

Carolyn,..some years ago a friend arrived with some big flowerpots which he found when clearing a house and garden,..in one pot was the Black Mondo Grass,..over the years i have taken shoots and they matured,..i never get to keep many,.. if someone visits,.. the first thing they ask for is the Mondo Grass,.. its convenient to take as its always in the small pot,..no way will i give away the blue bowl so i still have one plant :)

I love your black mondo grass too Philip. I had one here which mysteriously vanished although there's no access to our back garden.

Sorry to hear that Eileen,..i hate when something vanishes like that,..oh i found a heap of Nora Barlow Aquilegia Seeds ;).

My Heuchera plants are quite big just now,..not so with the Heucherella 'Sweet Tea',..(this is a cross using Heuchera villosa),..for some reason it pushed itself almost out of the soil in the container and of course it would not be seen to have done this until there was no growth this Spring.
    How it should look now.

How it is at present,..i stuck it in Rooting Powder and transplanted it,..seems to be coming along with new leaves showing.

Of the two plants given to me of late,..one was the Dahlia 'Scarlet/Yellow,..which i was very pleased with,..the second is Erysimum cheri 'Bowles Mauve',..which wouldn't be my choice simply because i have several Mauve Geraniums and being variegated makes them eve better,..the new Geranium below.

Lysimachia nummularia 'Creeping Jenny',..this is an evergreen plant with a bloom approx the circumferance of an egg cup,..tending to grow near rivers or damp meadows,..it belongs to the family Primulaceae,..i decided to add it to the garden this week as i see so much of it around where i live.

I once planted an Arum lily but it never grew. I can only presume the squirrels dug it up or the conditions here weren't right for it.
My aquilegias are flowering now too but aren't nearly as diverse in colour or shape as yours are.
As for the dahlia it's a real beauty with the red outer and yellow inner petals. You have a very green thumb Philip and your garden is proof of that. :headbang:

Eileen i figure the Squirrels uprooted it,..pity as its a huge leafed plant,.. so is the bloom,..i rescued seven of them when moving them from one end of Sheilagh's garden to another spot,..they were about six inches high,..now the biggest is approx four foot high,..i intend making a spot for three or four of them just for impact,..sigh i create work for myself :)
I will send you some seeds collected from the Aquilegia 'Nora Barlow',..it should be interesting to see what appears from those seeds.
There are three blooms showing from that Dahlia today,..very eye catching bloom,..so i have it where i can see it from the Sitting Room.

First of the Cranesbill Geraniums to appear,..i am looking forward to seeing a huge splash of colour from them.

Philip this looks like the rununcula......butter cup. Creeping Jenny has a much smaller leaf. Almost paper thin alternate up the "stem/vine". It does have a small leaf about the size of my pinky nail and a yellow flower. I am not at home right now so I can't take a photo but I will when I get back which might not be until tomorrow...if I don't get too busy and forget.

Hi Carolyn, fancy meeting you here on Philip's thread! Maybe the three of us could have a cup of tea together? Eileen would you like to join us? Any one else? I'll have my cup next to your black mondo grass Philip.

Seriously tho P., you have some beautiful blossoms there: the arum lily, the Nora Barlow, the dahlia, the hellebore, the geranium (is that Rebecca?).

Carolyn I have what stateside is called creeping jenny, a lysismachia. Chartreuse mouse ear sized leaves. I asdume we are talking about the same plant. Looks great creeping in the bottom of a pot holding a green plant like a day lily or dahlia. I have to be careful that I don't let it escape to the garden.

Hi Eileen,..that Geranium shot was just a lucky one,..since i lost one and broke another Sony Camera,..then replaced it with a Canon i have never being able to capture images as good as with the Sony
    =================================================================================

Carolyn,..yes it does look like the Buttercup,..though this is a much bigger bloom,.. two inches across is the average,..it has several names apart from the commonest one used 'Creeping Jenny',..'Moneyworth',..'Herb Twopence',..'Twopenny Thot',..the Botanical name is 'Lysimachia nummularia'.

Ah yes i think that Geranium is Rebecca,..a well worth plant to have in a garden,..i think your 'Creeping Jenny is the same as mine,..i must get some images of it when down the river again,..i did look this evening when walking the dog,..none where i was as it was a dry area and my Creeping Jenny likes to be near rivers and damp meadows.
