The link to this site was posted on another forum, but I had a go this evening and thought it well worth spreading! It is actually very easy and you end up with a dinky square pot, idea for starting beans, peas, squashes, corn etc, and they can be planted directly into the ground as they will rot away! http://www.geocities.com/newspaperpots/
Great idea EJ they should be better than the toilet roll inners I use at the moment as they'll down easier.
Exactly Eileen. I used loo roll inners last year, and some really didn't want to break down, and I reakon my corn suffered. I think these will be breaking down about the same time as they get planted out! They are very easy to make once you get going.
I found that some of the loo rolls inners just went slimey, mouldy or constricted the new roots. I lost quite a few seedlings last year so I really fancy the newspaper pots. We'll have to compare notes later on in the year.
And I guess the bigger the paper you read, the bigger the pots will be! I am currently using last weeks freebie!
What a great application for an everyday item. Newspapers can be quite versatile when it comes to the garden. Just think you can actually find useful to make out of thrash like The Sun
[Photo Missing] A piccy of my first 6. Took about 10 minutes to make these. Will make a few a night....only need 100 for my corns!!!! :?
Good going EJ. They are pleasant on the eye as well. Who knows, you may just get Alan Titchmarsh's mug on the side of one of them sending you good growing vibes >>>>>>>>
