The female pileated arrived on the deck. I put a bit of suet mix in a log and moved over to put some in another log, before I could put it in she came over and started eating. They are used to me now and she was only about 3 feet away.
I've never been able to get that close to any of our woodpeckers!! I can stand in the garden but if I move they're off.
Wow, Kildale that is so very special. Our woodpeckers also do not let you get that close. You are so blessed to have her accept you in that way.
