I bought a Miracle Gro Plant food. They come in packets and it says on the pack to either mix a spoonful in a gallon of water or fill up the plant feeder and spray on the plants. If I fill up the feeder(which I don't have), don't I have to dilute it? Also, when is the best time to spray plant food? My seeds are just sprouting for snow and sweet peas, have just planted cannas and the other seeds have not sprouted yet. Should I spray this plant food on the existing plants in the garden - blooming daffys, an overgrwon shrub(it might be rhodo or Indian Hawthrone)with buds and a very tall and healthy looking rose plant. Thanks.
The feeder they are referring to is a hose-end sprayer that they make and sell, it automatically mixes the fertilizer with the water running from the spigot. I never fertilize tiny seedlings, and I wait until all danger of frost has past to fertilize established garden plants. My thinking being, I don't want to encourage rapid and tender growth which would be very susceptible to cold damage. Others may have a different view. :-D
You can also use a regular garden sprayer to spray your plants with, but as ZuZu said I would wait until all danger of frost is past.
I actually DO fertilize my tiny seedlings with a very diluted solution. I always feel the little buggers are hungry. 8)
S'funny, but I was just going to post and ask about Miracle Gro then found this thread! So has anyone used Miracle Gro? Does it work and is it worth it? Cheers in advance for replies :-D
Yes, it works great on plants and my grass is greener to. That was an accident running the hose over the lawn.
Oh it works great. I usually use osmocote in my pot plants then later in the summer I boost their blooming with some liquid miracle grow.
Miracle grow I always use a watering can, when using any kind of plant food that has to be mixed with water ... :-o
I too love miracle grow with the auto feeder but I use time release capsules in my containers cause it is too hard to remember the timing with all the watering.
