Purple long stem with tiny pink flowers plentiful in the sou Please help me identify this plant. I see it everywhere down here in the south, and didn't even realize that people grew it in pots or for decoration until someone told me. It was just growing out in my yard! Thanks! It's Tradescantia Pallida Purpurea (hope I spelled that right) The common name is Purple Wandering Jew. They are very pretty in pots.
Tradescantia pallida (Wandering Jew, Purple Heart) there are a couple other species of Tradescantia with the common name Wandering Jew but this one is the most common. It does spread so if you have a spot that needs covering let it go there or keep it contained in a pot.
If you have a really cold winter it will die to the ground but the roots will be fine and put out new growth in the late Spring.
