3 cups fresh or frozen berries(about one ziplock freezer bag) 2 cups self-rising flour 1 & 3/4 cup sugar 2 cups milk (I use soy) 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margarine Preheat oven to 350. Melt butter in 9x12 bake pan. Mix flour, sugar and milk in a large bowl. The batter should be on the lumpy side. Pour the batter over the butter (don't mix) and drop the berries in. Bake for one hour or until golden brown. If you don't buy self-rising flour, add 1 TBS. baking powder and a dash of salt. It's such a basic recipe, but I've experimented with different sweeteners (Dad's diabetic), fruit, etc., and it's never failed! It's also great to double, even triple, for big events (it goes fast).
Thanks for the recipe. I have a lot of blackcurrants and strawberries to use up so I think I'll try your cobbler out. :-D
Oh yumm, tis the season for blackberries again! I love it. We're going to go pick some from the brambles up the road this week and they'll probably all go to cobbler.
It's become a Summer tradition with me and my hunny. Picking your own berries makes them taste better! Plus, with all the blackberries we have taking over the Northwest, it'd be a shame to waste them!
