    My guess is Bottlebrush, but I am not an expert on Texas plants. There are plenty of Texans here that could do better...

    Yep,definitely a bottlebrush. Or more properly,Callistemon.

    Callistemon phoeniceus
    It is native to far western Australia, but can be found in some gardens in Texas.
