Netty .. your description of waking and all your devices dead batteries sounds very familiar..just trying to keep it all together… sometimes it nice just to take a few on your own. Hope you get better sleep soon.

What a story, Mel. It was like a whole book all crammed into one posting. It was so enjoyable reading your account— everything from baking to bears.
All, really good stuff…but I miss piccies—like that upper garden and the thongs planted in it. Bear fotos. You know, visuals. Haha.
Glad to hear that things are slowly but surely taking shape over there. Keep up the good work, mate.

We returned from a mini vacation at the coast, Ocean City, Oregon.

I was last there in 2022. It's a nice retreat during off season, and the weather was perfect. Mostly a lot of walking on the beach.

Now we are back home. The roofer will be here tomorrow to measure and do stuff, with the new roof installation beginning on Monday.

There was a new york times recipe for smashburgers using mushroom instead of ground beef. I made one and was amazed at how much I liked it. At Ocean City, we had lunch at a cafe that made what looked like a black bean smashburger, equally good.

I'm not sure how much Rufus liked his vacation. He's a creature of habit. He did seem to enjoy some exploring.

Good timing for a time out. Beach pics so peaceful and Rufous looks curious.
Roofers tomorrow sending peace and blessings your way. Maybe get Rufous noise cancelling ear muffs.. :)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 14°C and mostly cloudy. Weatherman says sunny this morning and rainy this afternoon, so I'm off to get some grass cut and gardening done.
I'll do my inside chores when the rain starts.
Have a great day all :)

I'm back! The study is almost complete, but enough is done that we can set up the computer and I can enjoy Garden Stew again!
We have had so much rain that mowing is out of the question. We may just turn the yards into hay fields I did manage to harvest some lemon thyme and some basil, which are drying in the kitchen. Unlike Netty, I haven't worked any part of my anatomy off. I do admire her energy!

Clay— congrats on your dibber. Would you post a pic?

Welcome back, Marlin. I sure did miss you and your postings.
With all the rain there, how are your spuds doing?

Good Sunday morning all and Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms out there!
Currently 9°C and sunny, however weatherman says to expect more rain today.
When I stepped out for my dog walk I was greeted by a Baltimore Oriole and a Hummingbird at the door! After my walk I immediately washed and hung the feeders. Hope they saw me haha Hoping to get the last 2 raised beds prepared, and the pea trellis moved before the rain starts. My shoulder really hurts, so I think I should take it easier today. I picked some rhubarb this morning, and I'm going to make my Mothers Rhubarb meringue cake. Yum!
Have a great day all :)

    Happy mother's day!

I went to the in-law house, mowed the lawn, and removed half of the large but dead branches from the fifty five year old Japanese cherry tree - seen below last month.

    IMG_6430.jpeg

Most of the original tall branches are dead. I'm just removing the dead branches. I don't have the heart to have the entire tree removed. I cut off four of the branches today. It looks better, so far. I am too old for this

The house may be put up for sale this fall. It's too big for our current needs. Meanwhile there is a lot of work to do and stuff to sort through. It's not cluttered, just furnished and lived in.

    Not a bad day.
