These beetles (or maybe bugs) are only a few millimetres in size. They are round, have six legs, antenna and black, shiny wing cases. They are swarming all over my daughters garden at the moment and she doesn't know what they are. They are covering her back window, the outside of the door and even her if she steps outside!! Can anyone help us to ID them please? Sorry I can't get a photograph of them to show you but I hope my desceiption will be enough for someone to help.
These are probably the ubiquitous pollen beetles. (Not bugs, bugs suck, these eat). they are fairly harmless, if somewhat of a nuisance. on cut flowers one is supposed to put the flowers in a dark room with a light source at one end, the beetles are supposed to go toward the light. Never worked for us, have to say. They will disappear soon is the only thing I can say.
Thanks Eric. You're right - they appear to be pollen beetles. Let's hope they decide to move on soon as there are thousands of the pesky little things.Every time she opens a door or window they get into the house.
There are loads here in Essex also Eileen. Sweetpeas and any white flowers seem to be smothered. The joys of nature.
