It's a brass coal shuttle, 9 inches tall and 15 inches across not including the lip. The porcelain handles are cracked and glued. I want to drill a couple of drain holes in it and use it as a planter. What do you think?

I think it would make an awesome planter.

I think it will look great. I have two, black metal not brass, that I use as planters. I actually use them first as buckets that I carry with me while weeding, etc. Then when the bottoms rust out I nestle them into the ground and plant in them.

What are you going to plant in it?

I started several blue trailing Bacoba seeds that are doing real well so I thought I'd use a couple of those. I'm not sure but maybe a white petunia. I do have trouble picking plants for pots so if anyone has a suggestion I'd like to hear them. It will be in full sun so whatever I use will have to take the heat. I'm not even sure about putting a metal pot in full sun. Will it heat up enough to cook any plants in it? Can you tell I'm mentally challenged when it comes to planting in pots?:(
